THE BULGING BUCKAROO (1954)

Chuck took the tired old western genre and turned it upside down with this sweetly sentimental story of a bashful buckaroo who comes to town seeking companionship, only to wind up slaughtering everybody and everything that rejects his amorous advances. A string of successful sequels (the popular "Buckaroo" series) followed. Although Chuck would rework the same plot elements many more times in his later films, this touching original version remains a favorite of critics and fans alike.
