Could you be more wrong about the phony energy crisis?

WHY was there an energy crisis during the Presidential election and if supply shortage wasn't the reason (now we know it really wasn't) then who manipulated the huge price spikes, why, how and did it have anything to do with the Bush-Cheney team needing to throwing a monkey wrench into the prosperous Clinton-Gore economy to rob Gore of that issue at a crucial time?

When you look at the fact that Bush Sr. and friends have been doing everything they can to help Junior along for years, and that they would do almost ANYTHING to get him into office - combined with the fact that Bush Sr-Cheney and Powell saved Kuwait and Arabia from Iraq (so they owed them a big one), combine with this Enron and Co's new ways to secretly manipulate energy prices and trading, and their plain greed in terms of being able to do if it they could get away with it.

Lastly, why was the greatest energy gouging aimed at California? Democratic stronghold? To knock off Grey Davis? How many millions did the perpetrators themselves spend through their secretive PAC Taxpayers For Freedom (I think that's what it was called) to put out disinformation TV ads blaming everyone but themselves (especially Davis) for the energy crisis? Why did that PAC never report who was behind them or who paid? We know Enron contributes a few hundred grand at least now so we can guess who the others are - the brotherhood of energy CEO's basically - being 150% behind Bush-Cheney their best friends and brethren who promised to alllow them to go hog-wild and defeat environmental protection, even if it meant Bush lying to voters during the campaign.

We saw what happened once Bush=Cheney "won" the election. Their first moves were to attack environmentalism, support energy gouging, call for 1700 new polluting power plants to be build by Halliburton, Duke and others, plus "clean" coal (hardly clean) and of course drilling in ANWAR, combined with less fuel efficiency for cars and "voluntary" (read non existence) pollution controls for industry. Bush went back on his Kyoto pledge then seemed to have only three agendae; lower taxes, Star Wars and energy and environmental deregulation.

Funny then how the energy crisis disappeared the day Jeffords shocked the GOP and switched parties. Not funny at all of course, just common sense. Suddenly the Senate could order investigations into Bush-Cheney's energy closets.

If not for 9-11, this phony energy crisis issue would have and should have bveen the biggest issue since Watergate. It was far worse than Watergate costing consumers 100 billion, and would have been FAR worse if not for the brave Citizen Jeffords.

PS - As the GOP try to go after the DNC Chairman for Global Crossing (or whatever) look into the odious Haley Barbour representing both the polluters and the GOP, plus raising tons of money offshore in Asia during the Clinton Years. Those stories have never come out and I wonder why. Barbour has to be the most corrupt soft money bag man in town.
