Comments:   Nice work hope I can get that good. I have a shopSmith I bought with the idea that it would give me more space in my garage / shop. Didn't help much. If I can only to get my wife to wash the cloth at the laundermat. I could get some more wall and floor spave. Do not think that will go over very well. I put most of my tools on wheels. That helps some on getting them out of the way. I have planer, jointer, 10 inch compound slider miter saw bandsaw 24" belt sander. Nice work hope I can get that good. Your shop looks great. As for mine I have to many tools and not enough floor space. I would like to add on a extra 20 x 22 but lack of funds at this time is holding me back. It looks as you used every inch of wall and floor space yourself. I bought a ShopSmith hoping this would solve this problem just made thing worst. I really like the items that you have built, and I hope that I can get that good some day. I'am just starting out. I'am disabled and this is a good way to pass the time and turn nothing into something. I have built and sold seven rocking horse. Thanks for your web page. Thanks Steve

Comments:   I was wandering on the net and came across your page. I am a woodworker by avocation and tinker with as the spirit moves me. I have made the same jig for my DEWALT planer as you have for your DELTA. I had questionable results also and have finally found that the best results come by feeding a piece of scrap wood into the plane both in front of and in back of the work piece. This supports the blades upon entry and exit and seems to reduce snipe comletely as long as I dont get in a big rush.

Comments:   You have a great shop and some wonderful diy projects. I am putting together a shop after nine years of having to watch my tools rust away. I'll have to replace some but tools like my 14" Delta bandsaw will last forever. Just replace the poor uncared for table and a bunch of cleaning and adjusting. I have just bought a house with a one car carport. I have converted it to a wood shop. (garage) I have surprised myself with the wall storage I have been able to make leaving the floor open to the large (wheeled) wood working machines. I have not aquired all of the tools I intend to, but I am about half way finished with this shop. It looks better now to get ideas from than it will when painted. I will be glad to send pictures. I had no luck at all on the net building a "one" car garage shop. Using the walls for storage would perhaps suit some of the folks with a one car garage, carport or less...

Comments:   Bob, you made a very nice router table. I may follow some of your ideas. My RT will be constructed to be the same height of my workbench so it will roll up to my new workbench and be pulled tightly against it with DeStaCo clamps. That way, I will have a seven foot outfeed table for jointing stock.

Comments:   Just found your site. Really enjoyed the tour!! I am just converting my garage into a workshop, insulated and covered with strand board, and a wood heater for the cooler winters here in Iowa. I am looking for a good workbench plan that is flat on top and on wheels for ease in moving to work on larger pieces of wood. I have been adding new tools as I go and have a couple I have yet to learn how to operate, including a big 36" wood laythe. I really enjoyed going through your site, keep up the good work. Vicki

Comments:   Hi! I am just starting to aquire tools to do some wood working. I took wood shop in high school and really enjoyed it and have always wanted to get into it. I have always worked with my hands. My daughter who is 16 wants to make birdhouses with me so I thought that was a good place to start. She is very creative and I'm lucky she loves to do things with me. I'm sure we will have fun. I have a 10" table saw my wife bought me and I just bought a scroll saw. I only dream about a shop as neat as yours but someday would love to have one similar. I enjoyed your page and thanks for sharing it.

Comments:   I love your shop set up(wish i had as much room). I am looking around for help to join two or more peices of wood to gether to make a panel. Maybee you can help. I have a joiner/planer and a thickness planer. i would like to take rough cuts of wood and make one panel out of them. What is the best way to glue them together( I have the PC 557 biscuit joiner you are unsure of). My big problem is how do I clamp the boards to make sure they stay level and true. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Chad Scott cnascott@att.net
Response:   Hello Chad,
The best clamps are Bessey K-body clamps. They are well known as the best panel clamps. Jorgenson makes something similar. They can be found at most tool supply stores and mail order. Beware that they are not inexpensive. That's why I don't have any. Good luck!

Comments:   Bob, Nice job on the router table. I have a small metal router table and I am looking around at designs for building one of my own. I like the tilting top. I've toyed with the new height adjustment gadgets but not sure I want to pluck down $200+ to get a good one. The link for the insert was a good one also. Thanks for sharing the plan. Bill

Comments:   My Dad passed away a year ago and was an incredible woodworker. I just brought home his old Rockwell/Delta 34-338 (Serial # GC 1690). I have loved that table saw since I was little. To make a long story short (too late), I want to refurbish the table saw. How did you find the new fence and other accessories for the saw? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Response:   Hello Jim,
I found the accessories from reading magazines and watching the web for several months. I noticed what products received good reviews from both the printed materials and from the generous people on the web. I read everything I could get my hands on. It takes some time to read everything but I consider it time well spent.

Comments:   Hi Bob! I am extremely interested in genealogy, and found your site by plugging in my father's surname "Waltenspiel" (actually, it was "von Waltenspiel" before my great-nturi effect because you didn't want any chips left in the router compartment when you were finished? I'm asking this question because I would think that the design that would collect the most chips is one where the vacuum only came through the router bit hole (i.e. if I'm not worried about a small amout of chips left in the router compartment)

Thanks in advance for your help and also for a great website.

Response:   Hello Dave,
Good question. The wood chips scatter from the router bit to every corner of the compartment. If the air flowed only through the router bit hole, some chips would land near the compartment door and not move to the vacuum hole. This can be proven by blocking the air opening below the door.

Remember, wood shop dust collection systems work by the movement of large volumes of air, not the existance of low pressure (i.e. household vacuum). Numerous and large particles (wood chips) don't move as well in high vacuum systems as they do in high volume systems. Allowing air to enter the compartment only through the bit opening would cause the router table compartment to become a high vacuum system.

I have a small home shop too although not a nice as yours, mostly I've been carving and doing repairs on antiques of late but I want to start building again as soon. Really liked your couch table, was wondering about the detail under the couch that keeps the table stable? David
Response:   Hello David,
The sofa table is three sides of a box. Nothing fancy underneath, it's actually a bit smaller than the top. There's not much to it really and it's very handy. I'm considering a couple more as they make very nice TV trays when eating dinner while watching the game.
