Introduction

My name is Caine Hörr and I have been working as an IT Professional in one capacity or another since approximately 1991.

Project Management
Over the course of my career, I have worked on many special projects ranging from Team Leadership within a small group of individuals for the purposes of managing several hundred workstations while maintaining cordial relations with clientele to large scale projects such as rolling out SAP/R3 between two local facilities and assisting with the on-site deployment of 3 regional services centers in Florida, Pennsylvania and Minnesota all while concurrently preparing for Y2K. Other large projects have included working with various public safety officials to design and implement a $12-million Computer Aided Dispatch/911 system to deploying an enterprise ready network monitoring solution in corporate, preproduction and production network environments all while maintaining SAS70 compliancy. Other projects have dealt more with the human factor by delivering a cohesive set of documentation and training curriculum in order to bring team members up to speed for ongoing project development.

Microsoft Windows
I have approximately 18 years of direct, hands-on experience as a Microsoft Windows specialist. I am currently a mid-level Microsoft Windows Systems / Network Administrator. I currently maintain certification in Computer Fundamentals (Win XP) acquired from BrainBench.com.

Apple OS X
I have approximately 5 years of direct, hands-on experience with Apple Macintosh OS X hardware and software at the desktop support and networking levels. I currently maintain certification in Macintosh OS X 10.4 Desktop Administration through BrainBench.com.

Apple iPhone
I have approximately 2 years experience with the support of the Apple iPhone platform in a corporate networking environment and Microsoft Exchange integration.

Linux / UNIX
I have approximately 5 years of limited desktop and server support experience with various flavors of Linux and UNIX consisting of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Suse Enterprise Linux, CentOS Linux, Ubuntu Linux (Workstation), and Sun OS.

VMware ESXi Server + Groundwork Monitor CE
In recent months (September 2008 – present), I have focused on server virtualization, virtual clustering, and network monitoring through the use of VMware ESXi Server 3.5, GroundWork Monitor Community Edition, and the Windows nrpe_nt daemon in order to provide a 24/7 network uptime with an integrated/automatic fail-over system for the purposes of disaster recovery with minimal downtime. This strategy also creates a return on investment by reducing the overall physical hardware requirements, co-location and physical hardware storage requirements and reduction in energy consumption.

Cisco
I am currently enrolled at the Santa Rosa Junior College in conjunction with the Cisco Networking Academy in order to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification. It is my goal to take the CCNA examination sometime in May/June 2010.

Web Design

I have approximately 10 years of web design, administration, content management and e-commerce development experience. Within the past year (2009) I have been actively involved in designing and maintaining personal and client web sites leveraging the WordPress blogging platform in conjunction with various SEO and social networking tools for the purpose of online marketing and web traffic generation. I am currently certified through New Horizons Computer Learning Center in Advanced HTML 4.0. I also hold a secondary certification (expired) in HTML 3.2 from BrainBench.com.
