THE MISSION OF DAV Chapter 48 IS:
To uphold and maintain the Constitution and the laws of the United States, to realize the true American ideals and aims for which those eligible to membership fought.

Free assistance in obtaining benefits and services earned through military service provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other agencies of the government.

And to assist veterans and their families, to obtain medical and administrative assistance for service connected disabilities, (wounded, gassed,injured or Post Tramatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)).

VA'S ONLINE RX REFILL SERVICE
More than 1000,000 have veterans signed up to use MyHealthVet, which is located on the VA's Web Site at www.myhealth.va.gov  When a veteran orders a RX refill it is routed to the VA's computer system , filled and then sent to the veteran.

HELP A VETERAN OBTAIN VA SERVICES
On Nov 10th, the Department of the Army officially introduced a Disabled Soldier Support System (DS3) Initiative that provides its severely disabled Soldiers and their families with a system of advocacy and follow-up with personal support to assist them as they transition from military service to the civilian community.
Web site was set up www.armyds3.org and a phone number 1-800-833-6622 for veterans to obtain information about the services.  Although this was set up as an Army Web Site, information for the other Armed Services may share this helpful Site. 

TREASURY TARGETS VETERANS
The Treasury Dept is sending letters to selected veterans, reminding them they owe the federal government and that the money can be taken from other federal checks to settle their debts. For the first time, portions of a monthly social security approximately 243,00 names to the Treasury Dept,. With debts valued at more than $75 million, VA said.
Federal law states that when veterans owe more than $25 to the VA and the debts are more than 180 days overdue, VA officials must report

         VA To Begin Chiropractic Care
Veterans can receive chiropractic care at 26 selected Department of Veterans Affairs facilities beginning this fall, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Anthony J. Principi announced June 25. In consultation with VA primary care providers, doctors of chiropractic will offer patient evaluations and chiropractic care for neuromusculoskeletal conditions.
Eligible veterans will have access to chiropractic care through the VA's outpatient fee-basis program after a referral by their primary care provider..
