  NARFE'S efforts to repeal or amend the Government Pension Offset (GPO) and Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) are still pending. With the economy in the state it is in now, it will be hard to find the money to pursue these unfair items. We will continue to support this cause.

This will be one of the items involved in the Social Security controversy that congress is now debating.
      As included in the Social Security amendments of 1978, and implemented in 1983, GOP has affected over 300,000 federal, state and local government retirees. It reduces or eliminates social Security spousal benefits to which an affected retiree may be eligible. Two-thirds of the amount of the government annuity that the retiree has earned is used to offset what ever social security spousal or survivor benefit might be payable.
      The so-called Windfall Elimination Provision in the Social Security amendments Act of 1983 greatly reduces the social security of a retired or disabled worker who also receives a government annuity based on his/her earnings and affects over 500,000
federal, state, and local government retirees. It applies to anyone who becomes 62 (or disabled) after 1985 and becomes eligible for his/her government

NOTE:
At present your  (FEHBP) Health Care cost of the total premium is about 28 %. The government pays 72 %. With no surplus budget money to be found the government will try to change theses percentages in their favor.

      Get a Return on  Health Care Premium Costs
        Oppose higher health care premiums costs by urging congress to co-sponsor  legislation to allow federal annuitants to use pre-tax annuities to pay their share of FEHBP premiums.

respected legislative voice for federal workers and retirees. Membership
has grown to nearly 400,000 federal, District of Columbia, and postal
employees, retirees, spouses and survivors united to preserve the economic
security and well-being of federal employees on the job and in retirement
