Maya Mythology

Maya

Classic Maya Mythology as recorded in the codices and the Popol Vuh council book at the time of the conquest give us a rich picture of the gods and heroes of the Maya. There are also hundreds of carvings and paintings on temples and pottery depicting characters in the stories. Most of the stories are still alive today in the regions of Southern Mexico and Central America where the Mayan language and culture are still strong.
