The Design objective was to provide privacy from Isabel's adoring readership while in turn linking the aesthetics to the Spanish colonial architecture of the house.

**Note: The false hinge-fronts shown on the above Gate #32 are available from two sources. The original custom shop in NC, with the following costs and added to your gate order:
$350 pair - Plain black finish rust control paint
$400 pair - Black powder coated iron
$500 pair - Special colored powder coated, including faux bronzes
$1,200 pair - Solid bronze (in burnished, light antique and dark oil rubbed)

As a cost conscious alternative, A similar hinge at Wild West Hardware. These should be sourced directly by the homewner.

There is not a lot of detail to the Driveway gate #6, nor it's favorite partner, the Pedestrian Gate #29. And yet they are two of the more popular products in the CPW line. Partly the privacy offered and partly the link to Spanish Colonial architecture, which is so prominent in California. Our east coast patrons are not nearly so keen on the #6.

A look at the adjustable hinge style. The full installation and automation of this gate and innumerable others in the Bay Area, was accomplished by Rick Dentoni of Automatic Gate Installations at 408-369-1249 or by contacting rickdentoni@yahoo.com. Rick covers primarily the peninsula south of San Francisco and this hinge system is relegated to those gates with an exposed steel frame (anything over 12' overall width between columns)

    DRIVEWAY GATE #6-1
       
Driveway gate #6-1 is a rare wintry scene in the higher elevations of Los Gatos California. Here we have a 16' overall width between columns, with the steel frame embedded or invisible to the eye. Formerly Option #3, we have recently discontinued the embedded steel gates. Our patron tells us the finish is Olympic Maximum Semi-Transparent Stain, Espresso. Columns are hammered copper & brass that clads a block platform wrapping 6x6 steel post cores.

  Both sides of the gate are identical, with the invisible steel frame embedded into the wood frame.

The solid panels are individual planks milled and joined to a single panel that floats within the gate's framework. The panel is surfaced on both sides and a net 3/4" thickness. The joint itself is shown below. This is NOT a store-bought tongue-and-groove product.
