Garden Gate #113 was designed to compliment an existing precedent to a surrounding 3rd party fence. The normal spacing of 1-1/2" is reduced to only 1/4". In hindsight, because the narrow pickets are only 1-5/8" wide x 1-1/4" thick, there is a slight chance of misbehavior over the uninterrupted and unsupported span of the gate's height. The smallest variance and the eye will detect the variance from the 1/4" spacing. it might be better designed with a slightly wider spacing between pickets. Say, 1/2" instead of 1/4.

We post it because it's unique and all in all, a successful design.

A Garden Gate style #113-1c flanked by a 3rd-party fence. Here we illustrate the Double Off-Set. With a 60" or so opening, two 30" gates are too narrow for either one to pass through comfortably. So we have one operable gate at 42" and the other fixed gate at 18". Note the cane bolt. Shown with Rocky Mountain Latch #E504

Another option is to use a single-span gate. Gates beyond 48" in width default to 2-1/4" thickness.

A third option is to set two 4x4 posts to each side of a centered gate, flanked by narrow panels to each side, as seen in Gate style #32.
