A wonderful 1920's Dutch Tudor tucked into one of Chicago's inimitably charming hamlets.  Our homeowners were looking to segment their existing drive to incorporate a garden area adjacent to their portico entry.  This was accomplished by first creating a separation utilizing the gate and matching panels Charles has drawn from the geometry of the upper  horizontal front windows, mimicking both their orientation as well as their divided lites.

The concrete surface of the old driveway will eventually be removed and landscaped to include an approaching walkway that leads to the gate.

* It was this week, during the course of our project, that this Chicago hamlet was struck with a 17-year cycle of frenzied cicadas.  Hundreds of thousand of rackety, deafening cicadas drowning out phone conversations between Charles and his patron.  A patron, who it turned out, had a morbid, psychotic fear of bugs to begin with and who, during this 'cicada week', nearly lost her mind.
