* All gates are made to your specific, dimensional needs.

* Gate widths 48" or less default to 1-1/2" thickness unless there is a preference for 2-1/4" thickness. This occurs when a gate is flanked by the overshadowing muscle of columns or the proximity to the overwhelming planes of a residence side-wall that leave the 1-1/2" gate looking slightly undernourished. Add $350 to the cost of the 1-1/2"-thick.

* Individual Gate widths from 48"to 60" in width default to 2-1/4" thickness.

* Gate walkways and openings of 60-72 inches, one of three options is recommended:
1) Equal Double gates
2) Double off-set gates, such as G-17 and G-4
3) Single gates can extend in width to approximately 60"

* Gate Widths: Your net gate width will be 5/8" less than the rough opening width between your wood posts. 3/8" swing clearance + 1/4" hinge clearance.

*The 4" ball-bearing butt hinges are to be surface-mounted to the gate and post.  The gate will ship with the hinge holes marked and pre-bored Why are the hinges not mortised flush? One primary reason:  In allowing air flow and light on all six planes of the gate, we essentially eliminate any temptation for bacterial fungus to establish itself and develop into dry rot (Commonly illustrated in the bottom rail of, say, a window sash, resting against the windowsill, or a deck board seated on a joist.  Both applications create dark, damp environments adored by micro organisms).  So, the surface-mounted hinge is one of several factors lending itself to the long life of a CPW Gate.

* Mounting To Masonry Columns or Walls:
You will be provided jambs (normally 1-1/2"T x 3-1/2"W: +$175) These mount to your columns or wall with your installer's preferred method--most often 3/8" x 4" spread bolts. The gate will hinge and latch off these jambs. Your net gate width, with jambs, will be 3-5/8" less than your rough opening width between columns or walls.

*If your columns are clad with irregular stone, it is best to mount temporary jambs to the block core and set the stone up to the jamb. This is replaced with the CPW jambs that arrive with the gate. The CPW jambs must be the thickness from the block core to the proudest stone, plus 1/2", allowing the gate to swing open to 110-degrees. This depth dimension from core to stone face will be required, and called out in your drawings.

*If the irregular stone columns already exist, there is the option of setting a 4x4 jambs to this surface using threaded rod embedded into the stone with epoxy and fitted onto the corresponding holes in the jambs, and back-filling the light cavities between the jambs and stone with mortor.

--CPW does not offer installations. Homeowners are responsible for securing the installation of their CPW products. So be careful, and don't end up like the poor sap on the right.

--We can, on occasion, help to secure a referral in your area and we will be glad to do this whenever possible. But these are only referrals and the result of previous patrons sharing their installers as a benefit to future patrons. So if you are happy with your installer, and the installer is agreeable to being recommended, we will add them to the database and discuss any future projects prior to their site visit.

--We will do the same for those Driveway Gate installations requiring an automation contractor. As there are a number of companies who have been involved with CPW in this regard, we will be happy to have them contact you. (Bearing in mind that these contractors will oddly try to sell you their own product over the CPW gate they've been asked to install and automate.  Why cut off the hand that feeds them?  Who knows, but it's reported with an alarming frequency).
