Extraneous Notes and Explanations

* All gates are made to your specific, dimensional needs.
* Gate widths 42" or less default to 1-1/2" unless there is a preference for 2-3/16" thickness.  This occurs when a gate is flanked by the overshadowing muscle of columns or the proximity to the overwhelming planes of a residence side-wall that leave the 1-1/2" gate looking slightly undernourished.  An added $400 for 2-3/16" thickness.
* Gate widths from 42" to 72" in width default to 2-3/16" thickness.
* Gate walkways and openings of  60-72 inches, one of three options is recommended: Double gates; Double off-set gates, such as G-17 and G-4 ; or option 3, with a single gate, bearing in mind that single gates over 60" width are somewhast cumbersome to open and close as a pedestrain passage.
  • Fabricated in clear western cedar, Port Orford cedar, and southern cypress.
Shipping and crating is 15% of purchase price for single gates, and 10% for double gates.  Shipping/crating for orders beyond two gates is quoted by CPW

* Gate Widths:  Your net gate width will be 5/8" less than the rough opening width between your wood posts.

* Mounting To Masonry Columns or Walls:  You will be provided jambs (1-1/2" thick gates:+$175 and 2-1/4" thick gates: $200) which mount to your columns or wall.  The gate will hinge and latch off these jambs.  Your net gate width, with jambs, will be 3-5/8" less than your rough opening width between columns or walls.  If your columns are of irregular stone,   it is best to mount the jambs to the block core and set the stone up to the jamb. This can be done by using a temporary jamb, and replacing it with the CPW jamb that arrives with the gate.   if the irregular stone columns already exist, there is the option of setting a 4x4 jambs to this surface using threaded rod, and back-filling the light cavities with mortor.

Regarding Gate Installation

--CPW does not offer installations.  Homeowners are responsible for securing the installation of their CPW products.  So be careful, and don't end up like the poor sap on the right.
--We can, on occasion, help to secure a referral in your area and we will be glad to do this whenever possible.  But these are only referrals and CPW is not responsible for their work.

--We will do the same for those Driveway Gate installations requiring an automation contractor.  As there are a number of companies who have been involved with CPW in this regard, we will be happy to have them contact you.
--It is always best to refer your installer or contractor to the web site to familiarize themselves with the level of quality of CPW products, as well as to thePDF Installation Guides, located through the below link or under the Site Map on every page.
--Technical support is available to all homeowners and third-party installers by phone 707-823-3711 or email <support@prowellwoodworks.com>

Regarding Shipping

1) A typical wood gate within the Continental United States ships FedEx freight. 2) If you order an item, we will provide a quote, where necessary, for standard shipping. The independent courier may have an additional charge for redelivery and making appointments. We will not be responsible for any of these charges. 3) When items are shipped motor freight, the items become the property of the purchaser when they leave our dock. Motor freight companies may have strict policies regarding damaged freight. If you sign for a damaged package without noting the damage at the time of the delivery, they will often not allow the claim. If you detect some damage to the crate, please make a note of this on the Bill of Lading the driver will ask you to sign.  You do not need to refuse delivery or ask the driver to wait.  Your signed note will be sufficient in the event of a claim.4) Please make sure you understand the shipping options and how your order will ship before placing an order.

Relax. We use durable, ribbed crates. As of summer 2006, only one shipment has arrived with damage. This, in June 2003, involved a small break on a single rail of a single panel and CPW replaced it without question. The fault was ours.

Furthermore:
How will my product be packaged for motor freight shipping?
When your product arrives, particularly, gates, you can expect the product to arrive on a motor freight carrier. Dealing with a motor freight carrier is definitively different than using UPS or the Postal Service. When your product arrives, expect it to be heavy and bulky. Single Gates can generally be handled by a single individual although, Drive Gates and multiple fence panels can be quite heavy. ***Do not expect a motor freight driver to help you unload. They will move your product to the tail of their truck and from that point on, the load is yours to manage. Have some able body friends on hand to help out or whom ever you can recruit. Often, door units are easier to manage once removed from their crate and you might want to uncrate immediately after removing your shipment from the truck.

A driver has been known to be of more assistance if you are to offer them some financial consideration, but this is not always a guarantee. Good luck and be safe in unloading your merchandise
