ROCKY MOUNTAIN GATE HARDWARE
--General Information

ROCKY MOUNTAIN HARDWARE

CPW defaults to a solid sand and wax cast bronze gate latch by Rocky Mountain Hardware.  Unlike other options, these products are not out-sourced to off-shore founderies in India and elsewhere.  They are hand-cast in Haily, idaho.

HOW IT'S MADE

The art of crafting molten bronze begins with art-grade bronze ingots. At temperatures of up to 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit, 300 pounds of molten bronze is hand poured from the crucible to the mold, creating the raw castings which are then given to the experienced hands of highly skilled craftsmen for detailed, perfect finishing of every surface. From there, the bronze enters into a partnership with its environment, responding with ageless grace to the forces of time, touch, and climate to deepen the patina, mellowing it in a way only nature can, as evidenced by the beauty of ancient bronze statues.

Rocky Mountain Hardware began as a family owned distributor and showroom for other manufacturers' architectural hardware. Over time we began to notice a gap in the market, both in terms of style and the quality of the hardware's operation. We found that architects, designers, and builders from the upscale Sun Valley, Idaho market were repeatedly asking for something that just didn’t exist.

That was the beginning of custom bronze work by Rocky Mountain Hardware. Whenever a need arose on a project for a particular type of hardware that just couldn't be found, the company created it. This grew into the realization that there was a market for a new line of hardware: a simple, handcrafted gate latch that would work equally as well in a rustic log home, a Mediterranean-style villa, a French country house, or a more contemporary-style project.

GREEN

Rocky Mountain Hardware is certified by Scientific Certification Systems® (SCS®) to contain a minimum of 90% recycled content, with at least 50% post-consumer recycled content and the balance (40%) pre-consumer recycled content thus qualifying for up to 2 LEED® points. SCS® is the leading third party provider of auditing and certification for green building products.

Our commitment extends not only to how they make their product, but also to where it is made. With the expansion of the headquarters in Hailey, Idaho, we turned to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design® (LEED®) certification standards as the guide to building a green facility. By following these nationally recognized principals, they designed a building which balances the environmental responsibilities, resource efficiencies and the well-being of their employees. We achieved a LEED® Gold rating for this facility. Our efforts to meet this standard will help mitigate the building's effect on the environment while providing a tangible example of a commitment to the environment.

CARE + CLEANING

The look of the bronze will change with time. Cleaning all surfaces with a mild soap, water, and a non-abrasive cloth will help the hardware age gracefully. To protect the patina finish, apply a high-quality clear paste wax.

Water conditions vary across the country. Chemicals and minerals in the water and air can combine to have an adverse effect on the finish. We recommend that you rinse away any traces of soap and gently dry with a clean soft cloth after each use.

Do not allow materials such as toothpaste, nail polish remover, or caustic drain cleaners to remain on the surface.

WARRANTY

Rocky Mountain Hardware stands behind all of our bronze products with a lifetime guarantee on material and workmanship. In addition, the internal mechanisms, including all locks, latches, etc., are guaranteed for 50 years from the date of sale to the original user. Rocky Mountain Hardware will repair or replace the defective product or parts that fall within these guidelines. When necessary, a proof of purchase dated within the warranty period may be required. The patina finish applied to our bronze products is known as a “living finish” which means it will change with time, touch, climate, etc. Because each product will be exposed to a varying set of conditions, we do not warranty the finish of our products.

Rocky Mountain Hardware will not assume liability for any labor charges regarding the removal or reinstallation of the products; nor will we cover any freight, postage, or handling expense related to the product. Damages caused by accident, misuse, abuse, or improper installation are not covered by this warranty.
