The Peter Brotzmann Chicago Tentet has two very good albums out -- "Short Visit to Nowhere" and "Broken English." The Tentet is an all-star kind of project (Joe McPhee, Ken Vandermark, Hamid Drake) that plays free jazz based on composed material -- often rollicking and even catchy. Great stuff, but very long tracks (six songs on the two CDs, the shortest being 13 minutes).
