Friday, September 27th, 2002 ... 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. ... KZSU, 90.1 FM

We've got tentative plans to talk with Dan Plonsey today about his Sept. 30 show at Yoshi's, where the Daniel Popsicle big band will perform his compositions. Should be lots of fun, and a change of pace for Yoshi's -- Plonsey's new work has been in a neo-classical kind of space, much like Anthony Braxton's newer stuff.

The show will include snippets of a colossal two-hour composition Plonsey's written... check out details at http://www.plonsey.com.

Also, from 6:00 to 6:30, we'll be doing an experiment: public affairs! I'll be interviewing Dean Takahashi about his book Opening the Xbox, a chronicle of how Microsoft Corp. developed the idea for its Xbox game console in hopes of unseating the Playstation 2 from living-room dominance. Dean's reported on video games for the Wall Street Journal, Red Herring, and the San Jose Mercury News. Join us, please!
