New day, new blog

OK. I've abandoned my Livejournal blog, partly because it's skewed toward 18-year-old-girls, and partly because my LJ had gotten entirely too personal and uncomfortable, especially with that one girl reading it. Now, it's a new year, and a new blog, based in Movable Type. I plan to stay more politico-cultural-geological and a whole lot less personal in this space, and we'll see who's interested in reading it.

Scariest story of the week (from The Register via Atrios): A woman in Salem, Mass., got a visit from state troopers after she asked about buying Microsoft Flight Simulator. For her ten-year-old son.

Most hilarious story of the week is Iraqi rocket scientist Modher Sadeq-Saba Timimi's highly detailed sketches for long-range missiles. When I was 12, I designed cars that were as well-thought-out as these. Still waiting for Bill O'Reilly's promised apology , but I'm not going to hold my breath.

"Now, it's a new year, and a new blog..."
