Time for confessions

I'll join David Corn in calling for the White House to admit they were wrong about Iraq's WMDs. The evidence, or rather lack of evidence, is piling up: The WaPo has Barton Gellman summing up the gap between reality and rhetoric, while the Carnegie Endowment Report concludes Iraqi weapons were not an immediate threat. Meanwhile, 400+ weapons hunters have been withdrawn from Iraq as some Danish soliders found rusty mortar casings that may once have been WMDs, but can't be used as any kind of weapon now due to their condition. When even the hawkish Kenneth Pollack admits that the administration stretched the truth about WMD, it's time to come clean. Interestingly, Pollack corroborates what Paul O'Neill said a few days ago: "According to [friends and colleagues in the intelligence community], many Administration officials reacted strongly, negatively, and aggressively when presented with information or analysis that contradicted what they already believed about Iraq."
