That's not ironic, it's "ironic"

Wonkette is all over the "voting is for old people" shirt story:

[Urban Outfitters president] Dick Hayne is really an "ardent Republican" who has contributed over $10,000 to right-wing health and safety nut Sentator Rick Santorum. See? See? It's not an ironic t-shirt, it's an "ironic" t-shirt.

One of the stories she uses as a source has this perfectly pitched sentence:

Yet despite its slacker aura and carefully calibrated antiestablishmentarian cachet, Urban Outfitters Inc. is in fact a very Establishment, hypercapitalist multinational retail concern.

So, the makers of the shirt really do want you to think voting is uncool. Uncool, that. I'm going to buy one, just as an ironic reappropriation of a corporation's mock-ironic parody of a seriously ironic retro consumer statement.
