Event Promoter Information

I have been making my sole living at Arts and Crafts Festivals, Home and Garden Productions and Renaissance Fairs for over 18 years. I understand what needs to get done and am easy to deal with, working 45 - 50 events annually. I am a professional artist, holding both a Summa Cum Laude BFA in Fine Art from UC Berkeley and a Graduate Certificate from the prestigious Academy of Art in San Francisco. My booth is filled with unique night lights and candleholders made using organic materials to make interesting, beautiful and practical items found absolutely no where else. My items are priced between twenty-five and two hundred dollars.

You will like me as a vendor as I understand how important it is to create an enjoyable experience for the patrons. My booth is crisp and professional and built to fair specifications as presentation is important to me.  I always have my sketchbook with the drawings and paintings for my designs and create new watercolor paintings right on the spot. I have enjoyed showing at many major, tightly juried events for years. Follow the White Rabbit to view my current schedule.

What I Create:

Gemstone Candle Holders
 and Night Lights

Above are a few examples of my handcrafted stone and wood night lights and candle holders which always make up 85% of my booth.
The inspiration for my work comes from Nature. I love working with the natural beauty of wood and combining it with incredible translucent quality of the beautiful gemstone; agate. As Nature's stained glass, agate forms stunning patterns and swirls of color that I make full use of when adding my original drawings cut from oak. My wood designs are also inspired by the natural world, birds, animals, landscapes abound with a whimsical touch of fantasy as well.

Each piece is unique, fashioned by my hands alone. It is very rewarding to observe how my work encourages people to see the gemstone with fresh sight, my designs help reveal the inherent wonder of Nature's own artwork. I add light (either the Sun, a light bulb or a candle flame) to the combined elements of wood and semi-precious stone and the results are breathtaking.

This is our tabletop/shelf display for the night lights. I use this set up at our Renaissance Faires  to keep within the historical theme.
As I find nature the inspiration for my designs, mainly floral and fauna with a few respectable dragons and fairys, they work beautifully at Renn Faires and compliment the organic materials from which they are created.

Above is the display for Festivals and Art & Crafts Shows. The night lights are on hanging display boards with electrical hookup. I built the display myself to insure it was attractive and interesting.

Below are examples of the Candle Holder style.

At Renaissance Faires, I bring my fun scrimshaw faire favor pins. These original favors are engraved buffalo bone, always procured from ethical reserves. As my items are absolutely unique, there is never any category conflict at shows. No one makes anything like this!

As I am an experienced vendor and understand how things work, I only have in my booth what I personally create and has been specifically approved by the jury/promoter.

Booth, Costume

  Outdoor Booth
at a recent Art and Wine Street Festival.
Outdoors I do NOT need electricity. This is
a 10X10 space, but I can always build
a beautiful booth 'to suit'!

Indoor Booth

In the fall I go indoors at the Harvest Festivals and several excellent Art and Gift shows. My booth just twinkles with beautiful little lights, yet uses very little electricity. I can build from 4X6 to 25X30 and not lose the inherent charm of the booth.

Another Indoor Booth

Victorian Dickens Christmas

Here is the booth I designed and built for a wonderful month long Dickens Christmas Faire that runs in December.

I painted it entirely by hand to create the illusion of an intimate Victorian courtyard. Yes, That' me in my  Dickens kit as well. I love the theatrical aspects of many of my events, it's fun to create a historical and enjoyable atmosphere for the patrons.

Presentation is important to me!

Renaissance Faires

Recent booth at a one weekend Renaissance Faire. There is a pop up canopy hiding within the booth, we cover and wrap each bit of it with leather and jute to prevent blatant historical anomalies.
We won Best Overall Booth At Shrewsbury Renaissance Faire in 2006. Customers often stop in front of my earthy booth to have their picture taken.

Costume for Renaissance Faire, a successful traveling Merchant of the 1590's, dressed in stout cloth and good leather.

Studio, Artist at Work

Here are a couple shots of my workspace. This one shows a bit of the night light process, each one begins as my artwork (to see my original drawings and paintings please visit the portfolio site. ), and is cut out of wood slates using the wonderful Air-Z engraver  mircodrill. Then the gemstone is selected whose natural color and pattern best works with the design. The last step is the whole piece is mounted either with a base and bulb or placed in a wooden candle holder.

My studio, surrounded by raw materials, reference books, art supplies, wood carving tools, leather tools, a few of my paintings, dvds to help me work late into the nights etc. Everything I make is created right here.

I am real, actual, working artist.
