When the Northwestern Pacific Railroad
went out of service, and subsequently the Southern Pacific
Railroad, industry and tourism suffered greatly in Northern
California. Long talked of plans to revive a commuter rail
service with freight and passenger excursion service were
for naught. Enter the Redwood Empire Daylight, a division
of Ferroequinology Industries. With miles of track, lots
of leased equipment from the Santa Fe and Union Pacific
Railroads and of course the Daylight trains themselves;
the Redwood Empire Daylight has brought new life to Northern
California. Dubbed the "Worlds most beautiful train,"
the Daylight Specials used to run up and down the California
coastline. Left to rot on sidings from Arcata to Asti, they
became targets for vandals and the ravages of weather. Now,
beautifully restored and back in commuter and passenger
excursion service they bring joy to young and old alike.
Similarly, our freight division has proven beneficial to
the wine, timber, cattle and high-tech industries of Northern
California. |
