Introducing some of the
Walking G Counselors:

From left to right - Marga (the donkey), Kat and
Annie
Kat and Annie both live in the East Bay and when they're
not riding the donkey they're a constant source of amusement
to the rest of us.

Joe
Joe started attending camp
here 15 years ago (just a little guy) he went through our
counselor in training program, was a Junior counselor two
years ago but took off a year for school work. He attends
Chico State University in California. Joe coaches a high
school Rugby team among other things in his spare time. He
will be the senior boys counselor this summer. We feel very
fortunate to have him here with us.

Jordan is
demonstrating how not to dismount from a horse.
Jordan Shay has been with
the Walking G for 12 years. She started as a camper at age
11. We just can't get rid of her!! She attended Chapman
University in Southern California, but recently took time
off to live and work in England. She worked as a breaking
rider (breaking and riding yearling race horses). She also
works race horse sales across the U.S. Here at the Walking G
she runs the yearling barn and helps prepare the yearlings
for the sales. Jordan is a constant source of amusement for
campers and adults alike! She is crazy and fun!!! Both
qualities are necessities here at the Walking G! We are
really glad to have her !

- The summer of 2003 was
Trisha's seventh year to return as a counselor from her
home in New Zealand! Trish (Patricia) was just
eighteen her first year here, and helped out as a cook's
helper. We all fell in love with her, and she with
everybody here-So! Trish is back in New Zealand finishing
her teaching credential course to become a certified
Kindergarten teacher. She wears many hats here at the
Walking G : Arts and Crafts, Relief Cook, Goat Program,
Relief Riding Instructor, Head Counselor, Dave's all
around helper, and most importantly, Cookie Maker
Supreme!!!

- Amanda Wilson from
Australia. Amanda was a counselor at the Walking G for 2
years, she then went back to Australia to get a degree in
recreational management. She has returned to practice on
us! She has an excellent sense of humor (required here),
and loves kids and peegs (Australian for
pigs!)

Christian (Swedish
Cowboy) from Sweden of course!
Due to scholastic pressures,
Christian will not be able to come to camp this summer. He
recently wrote this letter explaining his thoughts on the
ranch. We hope that he will return next
year!
"Working at the Walking G
has given me a lot! My English skills are something that I
use everyday, since almost all scientific literature is in
English. I've always considered myself to be a very "
theoretical" man with my thumbs in the middle of my hands,
but the summers at the ranch have forced me to reconsider my
own view of myself. I might not be the best "handy man" the
ranch has ever seen, but I sure have liked the work and the
life on the ranch very very much. Living around the kids is
something that both makes your life harder and much easier.
They have both made me mature and brought to the surface
sides of me that are really fun to show but are sometimes
hard to show in an adult environment. "

Nina
Nina attended The Walking G
for 14 years, she went through the Counselor training
program and returned for many years as a senior counselor.
She is working in Seattle as an architect

Sarah has been coming to the
Walking G for nine years. She went through the counselor in
training program and is now part of our senior staff. She is
presently attending Santa Rosa Junior College where she is
studying theater. In her spare time she works thoroughbred
sales all over California, and is now working in Kentucky as
well. Sarah is an enthusiastic, energetic addition to our
team here at the Walking G and we are privileged to have
her.
