"Earth Day?"

What about Destruction of Humans?

by Husayn Al-Kurdi
As an advocate of the liberation of oppressed people everywhere, and specifically as a proponent of First World people's struggles against externally-imposed domination, habitually referred to with racist and demeaning expressions such as "Third World," "Minorities," "People of Color," and "Less Developed," ad nauseam, I am offended at the calculated lack of attention paid by Euro-American environmentalists" to the most fundamental component of any serious ecological program, i.e. Social Ecology. The number one ecological issue in the world is related to the plight of the overwhelming majority of the persons on this planet, who are subjected to mass murder, starvation, disease, enforced deprivation and brutal repression as a result of Western capitalist/imperialist domination. The angle of interest in these people on the part of the white "ecologists" is often restricted to curbing their birthrates through population control programs.

The same System produces both ecocide and genocide. The ruling power structure realizes its need to clean up some of its own messes, in particular those which impede its profits or pose unacceptable risks of social disaffection, particularly among privileged players whose assent is critical to holding it in place. It is instructive to note that waste dumps are often located in or near Indian sacred lands or near Black and Brown ghetto areas, out of sight and mind of upper-class (or even most middle-class) "Caucasian" neighborhoods. Native original inhabitants were routinely rounded up and placed in remote concentration camps called reservations, to be subsequently joined by the toxic trash generated by big industries and a mindless way of life promoted by a tiny governing elite.

Indians and trash alike are removed and dumped in remote areas, with the trash being more gently treated than the Indians over the long haul, as the history of broken treaties and forced marches over the past two centuries clearly attests.

Many who are concerned with animal and plant life display a lack of concern, if not open arrogant hostility, when it comes to the needs of humans who are pushed towards extinction and ground down into unspeakable conditions entailing poverty, disease, and death. The prolonged USA/Russia fawning over some trapped whales several years go, with its attendant media hyper-coverage, highlighted the problem to many of those engaged in trying to "save" the future of oppressed people on this planet, whose efforts are studiously ignored or slandered by the arbiters of public opinion in the corporate-controlled media.

First World people suffer destruction in an interminable holocaust at the hands of the same system which sponsors the deceitful "Earth Day" festivities in which predominantly Euro-American persons congratulate themselves in insipid celebrations of their newly found "consciousness" while the horror of human and ecological holocausts actually accelerate. Among the heavy backers of the "Earth Day" charade: the largest waste-removal company in the world, major war armaments manufacturers and many of the major pollutants among the Fortunate 500.

All of this calls to mind Adolf Hitler, the kindly vegetarian who fawned over animals and children while presiding over mass destruction of humans and the degradation of human social welfare and socio-political culture. With the "Hitler" coming out in Iraq, at the holocaust in Waco, and along the phony "border" with Mexico, not to mention the suppression of over a hundred popular uprisings for self-determination taking place in the world today from Mexico to East Timor, and finding a fuller expression than ever under the auspices of the "New World Order" conjured up by the Bushwacker and unhesitatingly reaffirmed since by the Bubba model with which it was replaced, it remains for us to resist this globe-encircling project of world domination on all available fronts.

The ecology movement should practice a purification of its own toxic substances, such as the racist indifference to the destruction of human beings as a result of policies long pursued by the not-so-great "White Fathers" and their fork-tongued apologists in the media, churches and educational institutions. Be for humans along with other animals! Condition Number One, without which nothing else is possible, is JUSTICE FOR ALL. This means respect for all living things and for the planet as a whole. And that must include self-determination for all nations and peoples. Whether the Fortunate 500 like it or not. And whether white ecologists and other self-proclaimed "progressives" support it or not.
