A PLEA FROM DEATH ROW

My name is Harold C. Wilson. I am im-prisoned in the "belly of the beast"-SCI Greene, the "Supermax" of Pennsylvania's correctional system-sentenced to death for a crime I did not commit. In the past 6 months, Governor Ridge has signed my death warrant twice and the death warrants of many other condemned men as well. Only through the efforts of the Center for Legal Education, Advocacy & Defense Assistance have we been granted a stay of execution and with it, the chance to continue to fight for justice, truth, and life itself.

I beg of you to help in this fight for Justice. There are almost 200 of us on death row in Pennsylvania. The "Justice System" steadily reduces our chances of appeal, shortens deadlines, excludes new evidence, and provides only the most basic and inexperienced legal help in the form of court appointed attorneys at trial and in the appeal phase.

All that stands between us and the death chamber is a small group of dedicated men and women of the Pennsylvania Center for Legal Education, Advocacy & Defense Assistance and their supporters who are fighting this battle for us in the Courts. Last June the government cut off all Federal and State funding for this organization as part of the "get tough on crime" swing that has gripped most politicians and hardened their hearts.

They and we now rely on donations to keep the fight for life alive. I am requesting your help in this eleventh hour.

If you feel moved to help them help me, and others like me, please make a donation to:

To be sentenced to die by your fellow man is a terrible thing. To be sentenced to die for a crime you have not committed is even worse.
