COINTELPRO STILL LIVES!

by Sista Shiriki Unganisha

Greetings, Sistas/Brothas,
I challenge everyone to READ, READ & READ, about Cointelpro, especially War At Home by Brian Glick and Agents of Repression by Churchill & Vander Wall & The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR). Not that you are to believe everything you read, but there's nothing like having much documentation before you draw your own conclusions. We must begin to do some serious fighting to expose these official, covert, terrorist operations that have targeted political dissent in this country. How do we fight back? By being informed about the history of this official covert operation. Then we can begin to recognize these tactics when we see them and expose them by struggling against them.

Cointelpro has not gone anywhere. It has taken on a new name and has been put in place through this government's administrative and judicial re-interpretation and legislation to restrict our access to government documents through the Freedom Of Information Act. Look at the recent order to release classified documents of the government, but exempt the FBI! Gary Webb, author of Dark Alliance, used the FOIA in an attempt to receive government documentation of this government's involvement in allowing cocaine into this country, and the government told him to go to hell, they were giving up nothing! However, through the transcript of the trial of Ricky "Freeway" Ross, Gary Webb was able to put together the needed evidence. Cointelpro was exposed in the first place through an order to release these official documents. Please understand, anything the government does is documented in some form or another. Professional criminals will not be so stupid as to have their names on ANY directives dealing with official covert terrorist operations, domestic or abroad. Under the auspices of classified "TOP SECRET," this government has restored full secrecy to its domestic terrorist operations.

A new law makes it a federal crime for government employees to disclose any of their knowledge concerning this government's domestic terrorist operations, even after they have retired. Employees are also forbidden to disclose information that identifies an individual as a "COVERT AGENT." The Reagan administration put in place executive orders which nullified our so-called constitutional rights. Official, covert, terrorist operations conducted by Cointelpro outside the law have become legal by Executive Order 12333 (December 14,1981). Also there are new Attorney General guidelines on general crimes, racketeering enterprise and domestic security/terrorism investigations (March 3,1983). Under Executive Order 12333 (subsct.2.9), government infiltration "for the purpose of influencing the activity of domestic political organizations" is the law of the land. This goes for the FBI and anyone acting on its behalf. This same Executive Order, subsct.1.8(c)& subsct.1.12(d) has legalized "counterintelligence activities within the U.S. by the FBI, CIA, Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.

These agencies can provide "specialized equipment, technical knowledge,or assistance of expert personnel" to support local law enforcement (subsct.2.6c). When will the masses wake up? Unfortunately when it's damn near too late. I understand how Hitler was able to operate--it's happening here right before our eyes and not enough of us recognize it or struggle to expose it. What do ya'll think is going to happen when Amerika self-destructs from within? Since Amerika has endless enemies around the world, who do we think will come to our aid? No one, because we sat back and watched this country invade helpless nation after nation without uttering a word. What are these patriotic flag-waving Amerikans going to do when they realize they are the new second-class citizens on the block? What's going to happen when the masses begin to feel the wrath of this totalitarian country? The continuing downsizing of corporations and government, the out-sourcing of jobs to so-called undeveloped countries, the use of prison labor within Amerika's prison sytem and overall silencing of the voiceless in their search for justice within America's borders? Things will only get worse as we move into the 21st century.

The line has been drawn. This government is ready for civil unrest, which is inevitable. The laws are in place to criminalize us for protesting, and prisons are being built for our accommodation. How can we fight this cancer if we don't know the symptom? The only way Cointelpro can continue to disrupt the liberation struggle is if we remain ignorant of its tactics. Knowledge is Power, so empower yourself in order to make intelligent and informed decisions.

The Struggle Continues.
