STORIES THAT WERE WRITTEN
This page contains graphics for
stories that were actually written,
but went unused on the web
page because they either turned
out crappy, or because I found
something else I wanted to use.
In some cases, they were used once, but haven't been since.
Some images appear here actual size, and so
there is no "Full Size" link for those images. |

Images are thumbnails
of larger images. Click on the "Full Size" link beneath each image to see the

This is one of two images for the
XFBandit story Alliance. I was trying to mimic the mixed font size/color/faces things I'd
seen in some web advertising. With...uh, mixed results. |

This one had a place of honor on the index page for my
website for a good six or eight months as I prepared to move from Tucson to Santa Rosa. It's a direct rip-off from the Nicholas Cage film 8mm, but I do think it's
very effective.
My editor said that it looked like a lot of effort to go to for a
short story, that this graphic was better suited for a novel-length work.
He's probably right, but it's one of my personal favorites. |

This another attempt at an Alliance graphic. I liked
the way Skinner was looking at Scully, but she wasn't looking at him. I'm not so fond of
the title graphic, or the "tagline" of "Ask her no questions, she'll tell
you no lies." One of those things that seemed like a good
idea at the time, but in retrospect, was probably not. |

Edge of Darkness is the name
for the collection of short stories I wrote as XFBandit. When
I thought about creating a "Bandit Only" webpage on AOL, this was going to be
the graphic.
Then I realized that the ITC Fragile font (Thanks, Paula!) that I
use for most of the Bandit stuff was also used for some Dawson stuff, and let's admit it:
It's a pretty obscure font, and I didn't want to give it up for the Bandit OR the Dawson
stuff.
So the page never really got off the ground until I outed myself as
Bandit and brought all my fiction to this website. |

Extreme Measures is one of my
favorite Bandit stories, because it combines MSR, Scully/Other, Action-Adventure, the
Project, the Consortium, Special Forces and the terse, machine-gun style that Bandit came
to be known for. And the entire story was told from the
"Other's" POV.
And, finally, because Krycek, one of my least favorite XF
characters, bites the dust. |

This was the graphic that I used to announce that
Ellipsis, the second book in the Umbra epic, was now available. I also misspelled Phoenix. |

Another Ellipsis graphic. |

These two images are identical except for the hue/sat
levels of colorization. (Actually, I think the sat is the same; it's juse a 110/90 sat
difference.) Anyway, the original image was composed of 4
seperate images and blended together with PaintShopPro 4.01. One of the images came from
the cover (or the back cover, I can't remember) of the XFiles 1998 calender.
The text along the left reads:
2003
A world in
turmoil.
All that stands
between tomorrow
and oblivion
are these
two people. |
