Umbra01
Summary: This chapter doesn't really contain
much Mulder and Scully, but it does have a little Skinner. In order to understand the rest
of the novel, you will need to at least read this chapter, as it has the original murders
that our favorite duo are called into help solve. An unknown murderer is stalking military
personnel and intelligence types, and killing them in fantastical ways, while making sure
to leave physical evidence at each crime scene that points to a man that has been dead for
thirty years. |

Summary : Mulder and Scully are called to
Skinner's office and introduced to Commander Matthew Stone, USN, a Special Agent with the
Naval Investigative Service. Skinner decides to have Stone, Scully and Mulder join forces
to track down a murderer who has been dead for almost thirty years. Commander Stone gives
Mulder and Scully a briefing in Mulder's basement office, revealing a very private and
very shocking relationship to the murdered victims, and the suspected murderer. |

Summary : Continuing to discuss the case in
Mulder's basement office, Stone and Scully come to some conclusions on how to identify the
killer.They leave for the Pentagon to review some old NIS files, while Mulder begins
digging into Commander Stone's background. Once at NIS, Scully learns that Matt Stone
might not be as honest as he claims, as it appears that he's been investigating on his own
prior to involving the two X-Files agents. Mulder, upon learning some disturbing things
about Stone, tries to contact Scully, and fails. |

Summary : Next morning, Scully is surprised in
her office by Stone. Sharing a laugh and a pastry, they are discovered by Mulder. Scully
& Stone leave to speak to Major Haynes about her possible involvement in the series of
murders. The Lone Gunmen begin digging deeper into Commander Stone's background. Mulder
notices that Scully might be taking a liking to the tall, strapping Naval officer, and
they exchange some hot words in the hallway as Mulder tries to caution her against
believing everything Stone says. Enroute to NRO, Scully starts thinking about Stone as
compared to Mulder. |

Summary : Scully & Stone try and convice
Heather that she's in danger, and her overreaction starts Scully to thinking about the
past romantic relationship that Stone had with Heather. They leave and set up a
survailence on Heather's apartment. Mulder digs even deeper into Stone's background,
discovering some very startling...and disturbing information. |

Summary : Mulder gets even more details about
Stone's involvement in a classified military mission in 1982. Scully and Stone exchange
some hot words as he tries to explain to her the need for men like him. Tragedy strikes as
the killer makes another appearance. Scully and Stone spend time in an FBI stakeout fan,
and each take time to fantasize about the other. |

Summary : Mulder grabs some coffee and heads
over to Scully's apartment so they can talk about the case. The conversation quickly
switches topics to Scully's growing attraction to Commander Stone. Mulder, knowing that
his friendship with Scully is resting on his reaction to her feelings, handles the
situation the best way he knows how. |

Summary: The next morning, Scully, Stone and
Mulder appear in Skinner's office to discuss how the killer could have accomplished what
he did. Mulder goes off to meet with the Gunmen's contact at BUPERS, and he learns the
shocking secret behind the classified Libyan military mission. He also learns, by personal
observation, what kind of man Stone is. |

Summary : While Mulder continues to gather
details with the Gunmen's contact at BUPERS, Scully and Stone head over to DSCPERS to
learn all they can about Major Haynes. Stone recieves a rather cool reception at DCSPERS,
and Scully is beginning to realize that Stone is considered a rogue inside the
intelligence community. Stone sits and stews and generally behaves like a spoiled little
brat. |

Summary : While Mulder works the phones, trying
to contact the men that served with Stone, Scully and Stone share a lunch that
deteroriates into physical confrontation.Scully is almost forced to defend herself with
what Mr. X once called "terminal intensity." This chapter is a favorite of
Action! Scully fans. She slices, she dices, she takes it to the edge and almost topples
over! |

Summary : Scully departs for Groton, leaving
Mulder behind to conduct the interview with Steve Hamm. Hamm arrives, and gives Mulder
details about the 1982 Libyan mission, and reveals part of the secret that Commander Stone
is trying so hard to keep. |

Summary: In Groton, Scully and Mulder spend the
night together, holding each other as they try and figure out where the relationship is
headed. The next day, they board the USS Georgia to conduct an interview with her XO, and

Summary: Scully & Mulder continue the
interrogation of Jenkins aboard the USS Georiga, and he points them in a new direction,
towards Pearl Harbor. Commander Stone pays begins making moves of his own, even as Admiral
Karn begins to realize how deeply Stone is involved in the murders. Scully and Mulder's
relationship deepens in new, delicious ways. Scully spends time wondering if she is truly
in love with her partner. |

Summary : This is a fluff chapter, folks. Mulder
wakes in the middle of the night and has some interesting thoughts about the partner
curled up beside him. Scully wakes up a little later and...things develop. Rated NC17 for explicit sexuality. |

Summary : Scully and Mulder have a discussion
about the limits of their relationship while on the road investigating cases. Arriving at
Pearl Harbor, they first take a meeting with COMSUBPAC's Chief of Staff, and then continue
on to the USS Chicago. Once aboard, they meet Captain Kauffman, who is not
exactly...receptive to Scully. She sets him straight. The interview with Commander
Armfield goes well, and he gives the duo a cruical peice of information regarding the
investigation. |

Summary : After leaving the Chicago, Mulder and
Scully meet with Admiral Watts again and try to determine if he's in on the plot.
Decisions are made, and Our Favorite Duo depart for San Diego via a rather...unusual
method. |

Summary : After arriving in San Diego, Mulder
and Scully retire to a local motel to talk about the case, and things get...interesting. A
phone call from Skinner comes at a rather fortuitious time. Meanwile, Maggie King uses the
key Matt Stone left her and goes exploring his apartment, discovering evidence of Matt's
duplicity so deep that she immediately jumps a plane to San Diego to bring the evidence to
Scully and Mulder. |

way, and Mulder calls him to ask a question. Realizing that the man is teetering in the
brink, Mulder has Scully call him back. The mysterious Danny Graves makes an appearence,

situation. |

Summary : Skinner agrees to travel to San Diego
to help Scully, Mulder, Stone, King and Ebert continue the Graves manhunt. Mulder, as we
might expect, reacts badly to Skinner's relevations, until Scully calms him down. While
Mulder works the laptop, trying to trace the real estate transactions, Stone corners
Scully in the bathroom, eager to renew their friendship. Scully makes it more than clear
to him that the idea of any kind of personal relationship with him is repugnant to her.

Fox Mulder before anyone will tell him anything. Questions are asked...and answered, and
more truths are revealed, truths that may or may not help Fox Mulder sleep better at

directly related to the Graves matter, affairs that reveal new insights to Scully and
