I installed pre-finished 2.25'/0.75' oak on the first and second floors couple years back. The only carpeted area is the staircase between the two floors. From what I am seeing, the wood on stairs is a construction pine. Since I have enough sq footage of the pre-finished oak left, I would like to install those on the stair (horizontal parts) and get stairnose for the edges. Can this be done ? I figure that as long as I glue and staple the stainose, it all should hold well.
I would prefer to do the above (as opposed to buying stair treads), as I would not have the need to stain trads and save some money too.
