I think I am about to have Home Depot install Versastrip Engineered flooring in my downstairs. In California we have concrete slabs. I understand this floor does not "float" and it looks very solid and nice. It appears to be made up of 1/8 ply, 5/8 ply and about 1/4 of real wood (it's about 3/4" thick, so measurements not precise, of course).
Should we be worried if the floor is not delivered early to acclimate, or is it not needed with this type of flooring? What type of underlayment should we insist they use?
The "basic" installation is cheap and flooring is inexpensive, but we don;t plan to be in this house for ever. It's mostly to have it look nice and provide some allergy relief.
