BLUES BEFORE SUNRISE

Band member biographies

David Weeks (guitar, harmonica, vocals) has had the blues since he was a teenager in the 60s. He has played in blues, jazz, and general business bands in his original home of western Massachusetts, Los Angeles, and the Bay Area, where he has appeared regularly in venues including Eli's Mile High Club and Bluesville. Major musical influences include Luther “Snake” Johnson, Magic Sam, Sonny Boy Williamson, T-Bone Walker, Charlie Christian, Barney Kessel, Big Joe Turner, Ray Charles, and Mose Allison.

Eric Wilson (bass guitar) has been a Bay Area professional for over ten years. He has toured Europe, Asia, and the South Pacific as a sideman for various artists. Along with touring and local club dates, he has recorded numerous CDs and has been a member of the orchestra for various top bay-area musicals. In 1992, Eric received a bachelor's degree in composition from Cal State University at Hayward.

Joseph C. Rizzuto (drums) started playing at the age of nine. Being raised in a household of music lovers, he was turned on to multi-stylistic influences. He started taking lessons with Larry Murphy, a good ol' country-pickin' man in Antioch, California, and later studied with Pete Riso and jazz great Tony Williams. Joe was a member of the De La Salle High School pep band, and later played with a multitude of other bay-area bands, including The Ph.D.'s, Chris Sage, The Blues Torpedoes, and his own fusion band Rage.
