Downtown Salzburg as viewed from the fortress overlooking the town.  How many churches can you count in this picture?
Look at those Alps.  This is the other side of the hill from the downtown area.
Ok, so the background doesn't show through too well here.  But as the stars of this program, we had to have our close-up.
The Salzach river.  Look at all the pretty colors.
This is Mirabelgarten, with the fortress in the background.  The palace on the left has a chapel where all the weddings in the city take place.  The chapel is absolutely gorgeous, and completely decked out in marble and gold.  The ceremonies are only 15 minutes long, and the next wedding party is lined up to go on  minutes after the current one is done.  Oh yeah, there's also tourists like us just outside the door waiting to storm the chapel in between ceremonies.
This is the graveyard that inspired the set for the escape scene in the Sound of Music.  We felt this picture was obligatory.  (Here you go mom! -Eric)
We came across this amazing view of the Hohensalzburg Fortress  while hiking in the hills above Salzburg.   Right next to that round tower is the room where our dinner theater concert took place.  The concert was a string quartet that played Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, another Mozart piece, and Dvorak's American Quartet.   The quartet was very good, but you could tell they were bored of giving the same concert every night to Japanese tourists
who applauded in all the wrong places.  To be honest it was a very nice evening, but it was way too expensive.
After the hike we rewarded ourselves with a few liters of beer and dinner at the local beer hall. The last night in Salzburg we had a very impresive view of the sunset from the balcony of our Bed and Breakfest.
