He was quite nice. He was real dark. In later years he went up to Mendocino. When I first went to high school in Mendocino he was still living in a little old house on the south side of Big River. He married a white woman and they had several children. The girl went to high school when I did. She was a pretty girl. She married Charlie Tyrrell who had the first automobile in Mendocino, where you rented them, kind of a garage like. The boy I think is still living in Fort Bragg. My husband, Mr. Farnsworth, knew him and used to see him quite often at rodeos. He came with Grandfather. His crew was all Kanakas, when he sailed around the Horn, when he came here.
