Paul Ehrlich
"Doomsayer"

In spite of reoccuring massive famines in parts of the world, and the vast majority of the world's population living in abject poverty, many authors of the western world have called Paul Ehrlich a "Doomsayer." On the other hand, Julian Simon an economist, is referred to by some as a "Doomslayer." Followers of Julian Simon, most of whom live comfortably in the western world, criticize Ehrlich for making wild predictions that, according to their perception, never happened. Most of these writers are suffering from arrogance and dilusional extreme optimism. With their myopic vision, they choose to ignore the plight of non-white nations while sailing their luxury yachts to the Bahamas. What they don't understand is that economics has its basic foundations in the study of ecology, NOT the other way around.

The following quotations of these non-ecologists will act as a link to recent articles that show Paul Ehrlich to be fundamentally correct. It will be clear that the critics of Ehrlich are wishful thinkers and apparently wrote their critiques while enjoying the luxury of living in the United States or some other affluent nation....certainly not in any of the poor nations of Africa, Latin America, Asia or the Mid-East.
