THE GENEALOGICAL NETWORK: LDS FAMILY HISTORY LIBRARY

The LDS Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, has been acquiring and preserving genealogical data since its founding in 1894. The library, owned by the LDS church, has collected vital information on hundreds of millions of deceased individuals. The Family History Library has books and microform copies of records from all over the world that are available at the library in Salt Lake City and through LDS family history centers, which are located throughout the United States and in many foreign countries. Many of the records described in this volume have been microfilmed. Appendix D provides further information about the Family History Library. Also see Johni Cerny and Wendy Elliott, The Library: A Guide to the LDS Family History Library (Salt Lake City: Ancestry, 1988).
