Supporting Collaborative Teams in Engineering
Education
August 1999 – Present
|
Increasing enrollment in undergraduate courses in the Department of Computer Science has prompted an investigation into computer-based tools for supporting engineering education. In this project, we are evaluating a system for monitoring the progress and performance of collaborative teams in engineering design courses. The system uses student self-report and instrumented project management tools (Figure 1) to collect information about team progress. Summaries of this information are presented to the teaching staff for evaluation (Figures 2, 3). The system was designed and implemented as a web application, and is currently being used by the Spring 2001 undergraduate software engineering course for evaluation. Publications:
