Class of '71 Thirty Year Reunion July 12-15, 2001 |
|
Friday morning after a rushed breakfast for a few, we took off in two cars to Cabazon Outlet Stores for a little shopping, followed by lunch in Palm Springs. Gerry spotted the Blue Coyote and we decided to give it a go. We parked a block away, the temperature 108 and walked to the restaurant. Fern commented on the fact that we were the only people on the street! We all enjoyed drinks and Southwestern fare and proceeded to the Air museum. Unbeknownst to Bill (driving one car), the trip back to Long Beach was a race. With the expert instruction in LA driving from Fern, Jennifer was able to beat him by at least 20 minutes. Mr. National Inquirer (Gerry) in the back seat was using his camera to video it! Later that night we were joined by Denise Caracol (who flew in from Massachusetts) for a Chinese dinner in Rowland Heights. A tense situation could have ensued but was deftly diffused by Bill who calmly ordered an excellent meal for everyone. A silent truce was called, calm restored and laughter returned. It was then back to the hotel where all perused past Echoes and Ganzas over coffee and after dinner drinks. Mr. National Inquirer managed to capture a copy of a photo of a certain Freshman much to the chagrin of the owner! Not to worry, it won't be seen on the Brent page anytime soon - assuming a check is in the mail from DJ.
