Headmaster Visits Alumni in San Francisco February 21-23, 1998 |

Don Holmes, Headmaster of Brent School (Baguio), recently stopped in San Francisco on his 'round the world recruiting trip which also took him to London, New York, Toronto, Boston, Washington, D.C., and Portland.
Don's arrival in (and departure from) "sunny" California were both in the middle of a driving rainstorm. Fortunately for Don, he had one day of beautiful California weather during his visit (as seen in the picture above). I faced a dilemma meeting Don at the airport - we've never met and we didn't know what each other looked like. I remembered that I have an old Brent sweatshirt I carry around in the back of my truck. So I took it in with me hoping that Don would see it. Well, it didn't help. Don completely missed it (and me), but we successfully got together after a couple of pages and a phone call. |
The purpose of Don's visit to San Francisco was to meet with the local alumni.
Don and the local alumni had a dinner meeting at Pauline's Pizza Pie.

Walter Grubbs '64 was unable to attend due to last minute business travel plan. Ramon & Joel Miller '60 were also unable to attend.

Don brought a photo album containing pictures of the Brent campus with him. Everyone eagerly looked at the photo album. He also brought copies of the latest Brent School brochure. Before Don left San Francisco, he managed to have a breakfast meeting at the Silks at Mandarin Oriental Hotel with Bill Jurika '57, Chester Judah '65, and Gerry Geronimo '71, Hopefully, those attending the planned reunion will all get a chance to meet Don Holmes in person. He is very interested in the history of our school and the alumni. |
