Richard also submitted the following anecdote:
"A couple years ago, I had a new customer requesting some equipment
calibration on his aircraft (a small side business of mine ).
During the conversation,
he mentioned that he had lived in the Philippines for a while.
I asked him where, and he said that he was a student at Brent before WW II,
and left just prior to the Japanese arriving.
He then returned after the war and I believe he graduated (not sure).
His name was Robert Smilely, and he is a retired aviation
lawyer living in South America.
It was quite a coincidence, meeting someone who went to Brent almost 60 yrs ago at a small airport in Charleston, SC.
We even had the same headmaster, Father Griffiths."
Thanks Richard!
