Dream Job Photographing Ursula Andress by Tim Olive (Class of '64) |
|
Brent School P.O. Box 35 Baguio City, Philippines |
From 1961 until summer of 1964, I was the photographer for the Ganza (yearbook) and Echoes, the newspaper. Two weeks before graduating in 1964, Ursula Andress (Dr. No) and John Derek (Ten Commandments; Bo Derek) were filming in Baguio and I took my cameras to see what I could get. John Derek approached me and after explaining that he had just fired his third still photographer, asked if I was interested in a job. Two nights later I showed him what I had shot for the school and he hired me as his personal still photographer. |
I told him I needed to graduate from high school first (two weeks away), and we agreed that I would join his film crew in Pagsanjan Falls after graduating. So my first real job was to shoot Ursula Andress for 2.5 months, at the ripe old age of 18. Now, I am a photographic illustrator (advertising photographer) based in Atlanta. I have an exciting career which started when I decided to "help out" with Echoes and the Ganza in the 10th grade at Brent! |
