The 1st Virtual Brent Alumni Reunion is history. Farida Alim ('71), Estelle Assad ('97), Joe Assad ('71), Vicky (Javier) Assad ('71), Gerry Geronimo ('71), Craig Hunter ('71), Bob and Joan Nelson ('70) participated in an online chat session that started on Friday, September 27, 1997, 7 PM PST and lasted almost 4 hours.

Thanks to Farida for waking up early (6 AM on a cold Saturday in Vienna) to join in.

Craig went back to the office (an hour's drive from his home in Seattle) at 8 PM on a Friday night to join in.

The Assads had to juggle their time between their son Felix's 8th Birthday party which was going on at the same time as the reunion.

Thanks to Joan for showing Bob how to setup and use PowWow. Bob and Joan were already online hours before the official start of the reunion. They and Craig assisted me in ironing out all of the technical wrinkles to ensure a successful reunion.

I missed my son Nathan's final Fall League baseball game, but he forgave me when he saw how much fun I was having.

Other Brentonians attempted to join the reunion but were unable to do so for one reason or other.

Internet (or AOL) gridlock prevented Charlie Batongmalaque ('71) from joining in. Charlie has switched ISP (Internet Service Provider) since then.

Roy Lirio's ('88) provider would not let him download the PowWow software and it was too large for me to email it to him.

Anne (Pearson) Washburn's ('73) PC would not run PowWow, but Anne emailed during the reunion to say hello.

Gretchen (Bongolan) Donndelinger ('70) and Kathleen Farretta ('73) had PowWow installation problems.

Clarence Alan Langford Jr. ('66) and and Tere (Tyner) Canzoneri ('71) have Macs and PowWow does not run on Macs.

Fil Bentitez ('71) had a scheduling conflict - he was hosting dinner for his chefs from his restaurants.

All the participants unanimously agreed that the 1st Virtual Brent Alumni Reunion was a success and worth repeating. Therefore, I propose that a monthly Virtual Brent Reunion be held on the last Friday of each month, starting at 7 PM PST and ending when the last Brentonian leaves.

This means the next one starts on Friday, October 31st, 7 PM PST, i.e., San Francisco local time. Mark your calendars now and be sure to calculate the starting time according to your local time zone. This will be a special Halloween Party for all of us.

I have setup a special place for our monthly reunions: Virtual Neutral. Neutral is open now and it will be open all the time. Feel free to drop into Neutral at any time and use it for your own virtual mini-class reunions.

I've already used it to chat with fellow classmates and netaholics: Joe Assad and Farida Alim. I've also gotten to know fellow Brentonians Greg Anonas ('97) and Jose Abiog ('89) in Neutral.
