BadCollage

A frequent mistake made by students is to use a very small strip of photos. It is hard to make photos work well at such a small size.

Photos that have too much information will not work this small. Small faces end up looking particularly bad. This collage also has a problem with the direction that the photos lead your eyes. It leaves you with a disorganized feel and does not freely lead your eye across the page.

This collage has photos that are cropped closer to the essential information. The larger size helps a lot. The information is easier to read. Effort was made to have one photo lead to another, or at least live peaceably next to each other.

The collage does work at a smaller size, but not as well as the larger one. This type of format works best with a long panoramic shot.
