Forestville which is located  in the Wine country about 1 Hour north of San Francisco, was founded in1869 .  Named after A.J.Forrester who owned a saloon.  In the early days Forestville was known for its rustic Chair Factory.
Major Isaac Sullivan in Green Valley made the first rustic chairs and sold them for $5.00 a piece.  they are still in use and are doing good service. The factory for Manufacturing of the chairs as a specialty was started by S. Faudre on the Russian River 3 miles from Forestville. He continued the business for 5 to 6 years selling them at $2-$3 dollars a piece.
