Clover mites are named for their favorite food, and can commonly be seen sucking on various types of clover and grasses. A
single clover mite is smaller than a flea, and almost unnoticeable by itself - but large numbers of them become more
apparent. They are usually colored red, but can also be olive green. During cooler times of the year they are more active,
whereas warm weather tends to make them dormant. Clover mites are merely nuisance pests and don't cause noticeable damage
to grass, or breed indoors. Sometimes they get inside, congregating, and causing red stains from their excrement and
crushed bodies. In this case, chemicals may not need to be used. Cleaning them up with a soapy sponge, or vacuum is
usually sufficient.
