Watercolours have a fresh, luminous quality that has always attracted me. My new work in pastels adds the pleasure of drawing and a different and exciting type of colour to the process of creating a painting. Some of my most vivid childhood memories are of walks in the woods near our home in the south of England, and of coming home with arms full of wildflowers. I'm sure those happy times inspired my love of nature, of gardens and beautiful places, which I now express in my art work. Drawing has always been a favourite activity, and I have enjoyed various different crafts. I was in my early thirties, however, and living in Northern California before I began a serious study of fine art. With a family and a part-time job, there was only time for one class each semester, but I soon knew I had found what was to be a significant part of my life. Some twenty years later, painting is still my passion. I now share my enthusiasm for making art by teaching classes for seniors through our local college. Price and availability is shown with the expanded image of each piece. The watercolour prices include mounting with a mat, but they are unframed. In order to protect the pastels and charcoal drawings from damage, it is better to ship them framed, and their prices reflect that. I have made every effort to have the images here be as close as possible to the actual artwork, however computer displays may not accurately represent colours in exhibited works -- all digital images are approximations.
