Jason Shiga Genuinely experimental comic book artist, fan of CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE BOOKS and math puzzles, creator of hundreds of pages of comics and minis including DOUBLE HAPPINESS, FLEEP, BOOKHUNTER and MEANWHILE, and he's not afraid to end a comic with someone's eye getting gouged out.

Shaenon Garrity/Narbonic My former coworker at VIZ and frequent inspiration for doing more work. Her excellent online strip, NARBONIC, which ran daily from 2000 to 2006 and is now in reruns with director's commentary, has more science fiction elements than you can shake a stick at.
- www.girlamatic.com In addition to my own comic THE STIFF, girlamatic.com features comics by the aforementioned Shaenon Garrity (LI'L MELL) and other fine artists, such as...
- Leia Weathington's Bold Riley The ornately decadent fairy-tale adventure webcomic by Leia Weathington.
- Edward Martin III/The Petting Zoo The website of Edward Martin III's Guerrilla Productions, and the DREAM-QUEST OF UNKNOWN KADATH animated movie.
- Ben Catmull Famed for his scratchboard and brush work. Creator of the darkly humorous PAPER THEATER.
- Derek Kim Creator of CELL and co-creator of DUNCAN'S KINGDOM, he is one of my initial inspirations to go into self-publishing.
- Steve Peters/Awakening Comics The intelligent and generous Steve Peters contributed a pin-up to the last issue of THE DREAM-QUEST OF UNKNOWN KADATH. His comics venture into themes of consciousness, dreams, religion, alternate realities and afterlives.
- David Brogden A web designer and friend of mine since junior high.
- Robert McCarthy/Hell on Wheels Robert McCarthy is one of my former coworkers at VIZ. HELL ON WHEELS is his humor comic, written by McCarthy and drawn by Shaenon Garrity, Andrew Farago and other artists, including myself, once or twice.
-
