"I own factory lasers and DIY lasers (Jayrob) and in 1969 built a HeNe with my father.
I can say without fear of error, DIY lasers in a lot of instances are of HIGHER quality due to all the testing the DIYer does in order to make a viable product.
Jay's lasers are of superior build quality to many lasers I have seen and owned over the years. His fit and finish are on par with parts built for aerospace use.
I should know, I have owned and run medium sized manufacturing concerns over the years."

“I recieved my Laser today from JayRob neatly packed with instructions....VERY nice job Jay! ....Laser is thick with a nice weighted feel all around...i immediately turned her on and began testing....first test...match light from 20+ feet.
Indeed!....very nicely put together.....the focusing knob is a bit sensitive...but stays put very well...i cant imagine how sensitive the aixis lens adjustment is....
Took her outside for a balloon pop at over 50 FEET!!......took a few seconds...but she nailed it!"

“Got now my 2 lasers!
Build quality is very high, they feels good and thick, so handling is very comfortable and functional.
Also opened both, I'm always curious to look inside..
Heatsink, brass trim, switch on tail cap, wiring, driver.. all is sturdy and clearly assembled to last forever.
Tried the 248mW Sony with the dot-marked focus,
I've made _instantly_ at 5 feets _true_ holes in a cd case.
And for the Pioneer one [255mW]..
Maybe its just me but it seems lot more powerful.. more than the 255mW 248mW diff.

Just wanted to say that I've ran the 247mw mxdl at a max of 30 seconds (I'm a believer of remaining on the side of caution / longevity )

"I purchased a MXDL Open Can Laser with Meredith Acrylic, 115D diode, and Flex Drive set at 448mA. It lights matches and pops balloons...knew it would. What I wanted to review was the quality of his build and his customer service. Jayrob was very quick to answer questions I had and when I ordered the laser it was shipped within 24 hours. The build and attention to detail is flawless and has the feeling of an item built by a well established company. I am extremely happy with it and would not hesitate to throw more money his way for future builds."

"wwwwwow! I just got my baby-blu-ray. After a couple of checks I went out and found a scorpion (got plenty in case you need one). I hit him with the laser spot from about 6 feet, and he lit up bright white! It looked like a large high output LED (but with claws and a stinger). When I took the spot off he had a stripe that fluoresced visibly green for several seconds. He didn't seem to appreciate any of this....
Great build, and incredibly fast for a custom job.

"Hey I got my laser in the mail last night! Well, they probly delivered it during the day but I didnt get home til late. This is an awesome build!! I never had a laser this powerful. I could see the end of the beam at least a quarter mile away. Haven't really tried any farther than that yet. Can't wait for it to get cloudy, i'm curious if you can actually see it on the clouds. The build feels strong and sturdy and heavy - which is awesome! I kinda wanna take a peek inside but im afraid i might damage whatever is in there. I was able to burn a few holes in a black plastic Folgers coffee can lid. I gotta go out and find some black tipped matches and black balloons now. hehe
Jay, you are a genius! You certainly know what you are doing. I might also get you to build me a blue-ray laser one of these days soon when I get some bills payed off. lol"
