Manuscript says on Aug 5, 1817 (not quite same date as Guardianship below) John's father, Thomas Dalrymple, was appointed guardian of John's 6 children upon petition of Eleanor Dalrymple, their mother. John's funeral expenses of $42 were paid by his brother, Asa, who married his widow, Eleanor, 1 1/2 years later (after his death, not after the settlement).
Another note in manuscript says John Dalrymple's estate managers were Thomas Dalrymple (John's father) and John Bellis (John's father-in-law) after the widow declined.

RESIDENCE in PENNSYLVANIA:
"George Ludwig owned a tract of land on which Jonathan John had taken out a warrant in 1766. This land was name 'Londonderry' and called for 134 acres. Henry Davis secured this land through financial dealings in 1786. One of the John places was named 'Poplar Hollow.'
"This land was mainly behind Buffalo Ridge and, in 1802, 77 1/2 acres were sold to George Ludwig. Davis sold 56 3/4 acres to Abraham Secrist at the same time, 1802. In 1814 Ludwig sold both tracts, 134 acres, to George Chambers.
"The 77 1/2 acres part touched Samuel Owen on the north and this land must be the main part of the Rev. Glen Winters land. The part on the south included the Abraham Secrist Mill Site. This old dam is still visible on Cave Run where the road from Sylvan passes behind Buffalo.
"George Ludwig may have been in the Little Cove by 1784, he was taxed as the owner of a distillery in 1804 etc. The name of George Ludwig is on the early church roll of the Stone Church in 1806.
"There were two, probably three places, near the Secrist Dam site. One of the Henry Brewers owned the Rev. Winters place and the place to the south in 1858."

#549 Davis, Henry to George Ludwick Aug 26 1802; Deed, recorded May 12 1814; Bk 11 P 260
Warren twp; Acres/Perches, 77/40; the rest is blank.MIGRATION TO OHIO: George Ludwick is in Stark County, Ohio, by the 1820 census. Jacob Burgner's account book shows George Lutwig in November 1820 in Franklin Township, Stark County, Ohio. http://www.familytreemaker.com/_glc_/3663/3663_15.html
George's son Jacob Ludwick comes to Ohio later than his father. He is still on the Franklin County, Pennsylvania census in 1820. According to the birth of Jacob's children, Jacob's family comes to Ohio between 1826 and 1829. Jacob Ludwick is on the Stark County, Ohio census in 1830.
RESIDENCE in OHIO: Native of Pennsylvania. One of the early settlers of Franklin Township, Stark (later Summit) County, Ohio. Cleared his farm from the woods.
LAND: Not many years after Mr. Burgner's settlement in Franklin township, when
ready money and a kind neighbor were more desirable than a large tract of
forest land, he offered to sell half his farm, 160 acres, to his Mennonite
friend and brother-in-law, John Bachman, but the offer not being promptly
taken he sold the land to Mr. George Ludwick, who proved to be a helpful
and enterprising neighbor.http://www.familytreemaker.com/_glc_/3663/3663_26.html
UNPLACED LUDWICKS: The following are names of Ludwicks in Stark/Summit County, Ohio where the relationships are unknown.
1) Elizabeth Ludwick, widow, died Dec 14, 1879, Franklin Twp, Summit Co., Ohio, born Pennsylvania. Age at death 91 yr, 3 mo, 26 days (approximate birth date Aug 19, 1788). This would seem to indicate George Ludwick, Sr., might have had an older male son for her to be married to. Summit County, Ohio Death Records volume 1, page 158, # 223 (900,949).
This same Elizabeth Ludwick is also shown buried in Grill Cemetery, Summit County, Ohio. Elizabeth Ludwick, died Dec 14, 1879 (age 91 yr, 3 mo, 26 days).
This Elizabeth Ludwick is living with Levi Ludwick on the 1860 Ohio Census, Summit County, Franklin Township so I presume she is related. Perhaps she is an aunt.
Elizabeth Ludwig, age 71, female, occupation none, personal property $500, born Pennsylvania, can't read or write2) Mary Ludug md Henry Disk 28 March 1839, Stark County, Ohio. Marriage performed by G. Henry Weygandt, minister of the gospel, German Lutheran, license Wayne County, 1828.
Believe she is a daughter of Jacob Ludwick and Elizabeth Sechrist who died only two or three years after her marriage.
3) Elizabeth Ludwick md Adam Moser, 3 Mar 1840, Stark County, Ohio. Marriage performed by G. Henry Weygandt, minister of the gospel, German Lutheran, license Wayne County, 1828. COULD THIS BE THE ELIZABETH LUDWICK WHO MARRIED GEORGE HOUSEMAN IN 1846? SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE YOUNG AT THE TIME (age 15 1/2).
4) Mary Ludwick md Peter D. Diedrich 24 Oct 1841, Stark County, Ohio. Marriage performed by Daniel Cranz, minister of the gospel, Lutheran, license Stark County, Ohio, 1836.
5) John Ludwig md Rebecca Freymere (recheck spelling) 2 Nov 1845, Stark County, Ohio. Marriage performed by Peter Herbruck, minister of the gospel, German Reformed Church (Canton), license Stark County, Ohio, 1834.

RESIDENCE in PENNSYLVANIA:
"The earliest member of this family (SECRIST) in the Little Cove was Abraham Secrist (1767 - 1850) and Mary Secrist (1768 - 1843). They are buried at the Stone Church.
"The tax list of 1791 does not include any Secrist names but the 1799 list includes the name of Abraham Secrist with 125 acres of land and in 1807 he was taxed on 180 acres.
"In 1802 Henry Davis sold 'Hibernia' to Abraham Secrist, and Secrist sold twenty acres back to Davis which lay on the side of the mountain joining Davis's other land.
"It would appear that the first Abraham Secrist (there were three Abraham Secrists in the Little Cove) must have lived and operated the saw mill on Cave Run. Michael Smiers was taxed on this mill in 1804-1807; however the mill and dam were later always referred to as Abraham Secrist's old mill and dam. Abraham and Mary purchased land from Henry Davis (56 3/4 acres) in this area.
"Since Mary Secrist is mentioned this would have been the first Abraham Secrist in the Little Cove. There were at least three houses near this mill site at an early date. To get a clear picture of this land such early names as Jonathan John, Henry Davis, George Ludwig, Henry Chapman, Henry Brewer, John Moyer, James Johnston, the Secrists, Jacob Zimmerman, and others must be studied. These lands now belong to Rev. Glen Winters and Paul (Ulice) Keefer."
