Summit - Skyline

Starting from Lexington Dam, this ride climbs Old Santa Cruz Highway to Summit
Road and Skyline Blvd, then to Saratoga Gap, and down Hwy 9 to Saratoga, and
back to Los Gatos. The trip finishes along the bike trail to Lexington, parts
of which probably have to be walked, so be prepared. Old Santa Cruz Highway,
Summit Road, and that stretch of Skyline are small roads, quite attractive,
and usually not heavily traveled. Highway 9 is usually busy,but a fun
downhill. Bring a snack if you want, there is no place to buy food until late
in the ride. Call Roy if you are interested or he’s going sailing instead.

meet at the box office by 7:30 to purchase balcony seat tickets ($8.00). Show
time is 7:45.

Come view the wildflowers at Russian Ridge and maybe Monte Bello Open Space
Preserve. Meet at Gunn High School at 9 AM to bike to Russian Ridge via hard
or moderate routes or hikers meet at 10:45 to car pool to the Open Space
Preserve on Skyline at Page Mill & Alpine. Wear/carry good walking shoes,
bring water, sun screen and a picnic lunch with something to share. Include
a wildflower book if you want to know what you are looking at. Don’t forget
locks if you ride. Rain cancels the ride but not the hike, just add gortex.
Helmets required for the bike riders, optional sun hats for the hikers. Call
Leslie if you are coming or she will go whale watching instead.
