Saturday Morning Ride

This is a series  of leisurely rides aimed at the novice rider with an 
emphasis on skills and techniques.  A slightly harder/longer loop will be 
available for the more advanced rider or as a goal to shoot for the beginning 
rider.  Meet near the 24 Hour Nautilus in the Quito Village Shopping Center 
on Cox between Saratoga Avenue and Quito Road.  Stay for snacks, questions, 
answers (maybe) and general social amenities after the ride.  Bring money for 
snacks.  Route sheets provided for all rides.  Helmets required, rain or wet

Nepali Cuisine Banquet

Katmandu West is a breath of fresh air in the restaurant world.  The secret 
is their judicious use of spices, especially cilantro.  Standouts include:  
charcoal grilled chicken, and lamb.  Their legendary lentil dish and tasty 
vegetarian dishes are served with rice, and Nepali bread.  Wine, dessert, 
coffee, tea, tax and tip are included for the low price of $15.  (Please 
bring exact change, cash only)  Directions:  Address 20916 Homestead Road in 
Cupertino at the corner of Stelling.  To Reserve:  Call Katmandu West at 
408-996-0940 after 5:00 on the day of the event (don’t give up if you can’t  
immediately get thru).  Give them your name and tell them you are with the 
Sierra Club group even if you are not as this is co-listed with the Sierra 
Singles.  Be considerate, please cancel if you make reservations and are 
unable to attend.

Cornell's Annual Sweetheart Ride

This annual ride simply climbs Quimby, continues to the Top of Mount Hamilton 
and then back. What better activity for celebrating Valentine's Day?

Fall Creek Hike

Join Denise and the Green Earth Singles on a leisurely hike to the Lime Kiln 
and Barrel Mill site.  Bring lunch, boots and water.  Meet at the Felton 
Safeway near the bus stop.  From 17 take Scott Valley Drive, right on Mt. 
Herman to Hwy. 9.  Safeway is on the left when you reach Hwy. 9

Travel to Greece and Its Islands

Explore the fascinating sights and sites of Greece and its islands with a 
visit to Athens, the Pelopennesus, Delphi, Meteora, Mt. Olympus and 
Macedonia.  Then travel to the islands of Paros, Rhodes, Crete and Santorini. 
  Meet  at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts' box office at 
6:15 for dinner on Castro Street, usually at a local Indian restaurant.  If 
you can't make dinner but still want to travel with us meet at the box office 
by 7:30 to purchase balcony seat tickets ($8.00).  Show time is  7:45.

Meet at McKenzie Park in Los Altos (between the Outfitter and Springer Road). 
Ride through Los Altos Hills and out to Woodside. Climb the back way
into Huddart Park, descent Kings Mt. Stop for lunch at Roberts. Do the Olive 
Hill loop out to Godetia, climb up to Jefferson and descend to Alameda de las 
Pulgas. Possible coffee stop on return. 30% or greater
chance of rain cancels. This is an ACTC and (maybe) WW ride so call Naomi for 
details.

Travel to Poland

Warsaw, Treblinka and Auschwitz, Masurian lakes, Tatra Mountains, Podhal

Celebrate the spring equinox with a ride from Uvas Reservoir north through 
oak savannah, rolling hills, farms, cattle ranches and vineyards back down to 
lunch in Gilroy. Return is via San Martin and Santa Teresa.  Meet at Uvas 
Reservoir parking lot -- take 101 to Morgan Hill, exit on Tennant, turn left 
on Monterey Rd. right on Watsonville Rd. and left on Uvas Road for about 3 
miles. NOTE:  This is a Western Wheelers and ACTC  ride so call Naomi for 
details as she may change the date.  30% or greater chance of rain cancels.

With St. Patrick's Day a week past surely the appropriate thing is a ride 
around Dublin.  We'll meet in the school parking lot on the East end of Sunol 
for a ride over some of the East Bay Canyons, Niles, Palomares, Collier, 
Norris, etc. See the East hills while they are green.  We’ll look for a spot 
(in Dublin?) to buy something to eat, but you probably should bring food in 
case it's late  or before we do.  Please call Roy to confirm or he may go 
sailing instead.

class varies from week to week but there are always 2 sometimes 3 options:  
one for easy social riding, one for more ambitious riding which generally 
includes steep hills and sometimes a moderate option in between the hard and 
easy.  Join the group for dinner afterwards, usually pizza, location

Island hop offshore of Scotland, Wales and England.  In Scotland visit the
Shetlands, the Orkneys, Lewis and Harris, Skye, Mull and Iona.  After 
visiting the self-governing Isle of Man, it’s off to Wales’ Anglesey and Holy 
Islands.  In England the Isle of Wight leads to the Channel Islands, Jersey, 
Guernsey and Sark.  Meet  at the Mountain View Center for the Performing
