There was a "mild" Bikeaholic ride on Sunday Nov 2nd. We went up Page Mill and took Skyline and Bear Creek to Boulder Creek, where we were shocked and dismayed to learn that Karen's Deli is closed, apparently long enough to be covered with cob webs.
Where there's an empty stomach, there's a way, so we bought lunch at a supermarket and found our way to a park nearby. After lunch, we took 236 to Lodge Road, which was wonderful. Then we were back on 236 to the Big Basin Park Headquarters, which was warmer in November than in June. After a brief pit stop, it was on to North Escape Road. The various fallen trees have been cleared, but a bridge is being replaced. Getting a tandem across was interesting.
We then climbed the remainder of 236 to 9 and 9 to Skyline. Liz and I were a
bit cooked, so we went down 9 to Redwood Gulch. With the drag brake on full,
we cruised down the gulch at 40kph. The rest took Skyline to Page Mill and
back to Gunn. The ride was about 125km with about 1800m climbing.
