GDR 1947-48

The first championship was organized in 1947, as the Freie Deutsche Jugend, the youth wing of the communist party, decided to organize a championship. Since Berlin was under special occupation rules, they were excluded.

The winner of the championship was entitled to participate in the German championship, but Soviet authorities denied SG Planitz permission. The champions were scheduled to face 1.FC Nürnberg in Stuttgart.
