FC Pommern Stralsund FC Pommern Stralsund This club was founded in 1994 through a merger of the soccer sections of several Stralsund sports clubs. The two main clubs were ASG Vorwärts and BSG Motor.
Armeesportsgemeinschaft Vorwärts Stralsund played from 1967-1989, and was the strongest of the Stralsunder clubs. It actually started as Vorwärts Rostock in 1957, and was moved in 1967. Actually, the Rostock club had it's roots in the local Sturmvogel Parow, which was moved to Rostock in 1957. Vorwärts established themselves as the strongest Stralsund club, but 1971 was their only appearance in the DDR-Oberliga. In 1989, they joined with their GDR rivals BSG Motor.
BSG Motor was founded in 1946 as SG Sundia Stralsund, which was intended as the continuation of the traditional TSV 1860. After a few name changes, it became BSG Motor in 1951.
